Is history/facts/dates of history
copyrightable?
As you know most of the information on our
website contains historical information and also
links to sites that contains historical information
with the dates of the events of such (something like
that).  We provide this to the public freely at no
charge for educational purposes.  Because we do
have dates/history on the website we would like to
clarify that History and the Facts and Dates of
History is not copyrightable material.  To do this
we encourage you to go online to: Copyright Law of
the United States of America and Related Laws
Contained in Title 17 of the United States Code at
or
www.copyright.gov
The copyright laws that are related to
history/facts/dates are basically covered under
Title 17 under Chapters:
§ 101. Definitions, § 102. Subject matter of
copyright: In general and § 103. Subject matter of
copyright: Compilations and derivative works.
